UNANZ UN75 FUNCTION

The United Nations Association of New Zealand Te Roopu Whakakotahi Whenua o Aotearoa Reception to mark United Nations Day 2020 at the Grand Hall, Parliament Buildings, New Zealand Parliament on Thursday 29 October 2020.

Celebrate the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, reflect on the future of multilateralism, and hear from a fantastic range of speakers giving diverse perspectives from the diplomatic, youth, academic, and UN communities. 

The evening was opened by Kura Moeahu, Senior Advisor to Parliament, followed by Garry Nicholas, General Manager Toi Māori Aotearoa, representing Whenua Ūkaipō Connectedness.

Speakers include Chief Executive and Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade Chris Seed, UNA NZ Vice President Gaya Palanisamy, former Permanent Representative of New Zealand to the United Nations Colin Keating, UN Youth President Mark Howard, and UNA NZ Executive Maisy Bentley delivering the message from Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres.

Featuring ‘Toa’ an artwork by Baye Pewhairangi Riddell and taonga puoro by Rob Thorne, representing Whenua Ūkaipō Connectedness 2020 United Nations 75th anniversary art exhibition, bringing forward authentic Māori, indigenous and many cultures artistic visions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
