Signal was inspired by what I perceive as a musicality present in the various spontaneous ‘vocalisations’ that occur throughout the living world. The material is a collection of electronically produced sounds participating in a kind of imitative duet with the buzzing, clicking, growling and chirping of animal, bird and insect sounds. Gradually added into the mix are emphatic human vocalisations from participants and spectators expressing the range of emotions on display at Saturday morning team sports games.
