United Nations Sustainable Development Goal no. 11 looks at the prospect of making cities more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. The basis of the conceptual idea for this triptych began as an inquiry into how urbanity accommodates culture, tradition and nature?

Development of cities and human settlements must have in its inclusion, the perspective of those who speak a ‘language’ but not English. The triptych portrays a dreamlike scenario where human settlement and nature exist in a state of flux. As we work towards creating utopian city environments, we must also acknowledge the elements of communities and cultures that have already existed in alignment with nature for centuries.

I am interested in exploring the dichotomy of human settlement, nature and cultural environments particularly in relation to rural and urban development.

The title 11:11:11 symbolises the synchronicity, particularly between juxtaposing elements.
